Non-toxic, EU-certified hair care in the heart of Portland, Maine.
Newfound Hair Co. is a quiet, design driven salon rooted in health and sustainability, and the belief that beauty is not something to be standardized.
At Newfound Hair Co. we work exclusively with products that meet European Union cosmetic safety standards, including Innersense, K18, Arete, and O&M. Our focus is on formulations that support scalp health, long-term hair integrity, and care for those experiencing hair loss or sensitivity, and hair of all textures, including curls, coils, and waves.
As a certified Green Circle Salon, we’re intentional in caring for the planet. All hair is composted, and every piece of post-service material — from foils to gloves to color tubes — is responsibly recycled through our waste diversion partners.
“The environment is calming and cozy, and you can tell how much heart and soul went into creating the space. The stylists are incredibly kind and knowledgeable, and I always leave feeling genuinely happy. Knowing they use ethical, sustainable products and care deeply about their employees makes the experience even more meaningful.”

MEET OUR TEAM
We don’t believe beauty is something to be standardized. It isn’t a trend, a formula, or a single way of doing things.
Our team is made up of stylists with distinct aesthetics, perspectives, and ways of working. Each person is supported in developing their own point of view—because the most meaningful work happens when creativity is allowed to be personal.
WHERE TO FIND US
We’re tucked inside a quiet old building in Portland’s historic district — surrounded by antiques, exposed beams, and good conversation.
OUR SPACE
We’ve designed the space to feel timeless, with antiques sourced from all over New England. Our stations were created to offer a sense of calm and privacy — some built from salvaged 1830s doors framed by curtains, others set in front of framed acoustic paneling to soften noise.
Our artwork on the walls reflects the same principles we follow behind the chair. Hairdressing is an art form, and we wanted the space to echo that.
We’re intentional about everything we use — not just for performance, but for your health, the environment, and the long-term integrity of your hair.
